Altfield is a Shopify app operated by NKD Pizza LTD, trading as NKD Software. It generates SEO metadata, image alt text, structured product attributes and product categories for a merchant’s own catalogue. Last updated 4 October 2026.
Altfield reads and writes product data. It does not request, receive, store or process any customer, order or payment information. Product text and — where a description is too thin to work from — a product image are sent to Anthropic to generate the proposed metadata. Nothing is written to a store until a merchant approves it.
The app requests four Shopify access scopes and no others: read_products, write_products, read_files and write_files.
It deliberately does not request read_customers, read_orders, read_all_orders or any other scope covering customer or order data. Altfield therefore has no technical means of accessing personal information about a store’s customers, and is outside the scope of Shopify’s Protected Customer Data requirements.
Within those scopes it reads, for each product:
Data is held in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Fly.io in Amsterdam, in the European Union.
Altfield does not store customer records, orders, payment details, email addresses or analytics about a store’s shoppers.
Anthropic (Claude). To generate metadata, Altfield sends a product’s title, description, type, vendor, tags, existing SEO fields and existing metafields to Anthropic’s API. Where a product’s description is too short to work from, it also sends one product image. No customer or order data is sent, because the app never has any. Shopify. Billing is handled entirely by Shopify. Altfield never sees or stores payment card details.
No data is sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Uninstalling the app deletes the stored Shopify access token immediately, ending all access to the store. Remaining records are deleted within 30 days.
Metadata Altfield has written to a store belongs to that store and is left in place on uninstall. It is not removed, reverted or withheld.
Shopify’s mandatory customers/data_request, customers/redact and shop/redact webhooks are implemented and verified. Because Altfield holds no customer data, there is nothing to return or erase in response to the customer webhooks; shop/redact removes the shop’s remaining records.
Merchants in the EEA and UK may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the data described above, and may object to its processing. The lawful basis for processing is performance of the contract to provide the service. Requests can be sent to the contact address below and are answered within 30 days.
All traffic uses HTTPS. Credentials are held in the hosting provider’s encrypted secret store, never in source control. Access to production systems is limited to NKD Software personnel.
